“Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry, but by

demonstrating that all peoples cry, laugh, eat,

worry, and die, it can introduce the idea

that if Airplanewe try and understand each

other, we may even become friends.”

I am back from San Francisco and I am always sad to leave.  It was a great trip.  The wedding was fantastic, my brother and his wife are starting a new chapter of their life together, I did more exploring and some traveling.  It is a fantastic city.  It is also a very photogenic city where I was able to get some great pictures!

Battery Park

25 Feb

On Thursday, it was unseasonably warm for February.  55 degrees to be exact!!!  A little windy, but still pleasant for this time of year.  Therefore I decided to take advantage of this beautiful winter day and take a walk to Battery Park.  It is a nice walk, as it is not very far from where I work up on Broadway in the Financial District.

There are many things to see in Battery Park.  This includes Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island tours, the Sphere and Eternal Flame 9/11 Memorial, Hope Garden and the East Coast Memorial, which is commemorates servicemen who died in coastal waters of the western Atlantic Ocean during World War II.

You will also be able to see the construction of the New World Trade Center.

There is also Battery Gardens restaurant, next to the United States Coast Guard Battery Building.  During a nice spring or summer day, the restaurant would be an ideal place to sit back and enjoy the amazing view!

Love Never Stops

17 Feb

Exactly one month from today, I will be flying out to California for my brother’s wedding!!! I am excited!!!  Of course I am excited for my brother and his fiancé to be getting married.  To be precise, they are getting married on Saint Patrick’s Day!  Which also happens to be one of my favorite holidays!   I am also excited to travel!  I have been to San Francisco a few times, but it is an amazing city!  They are actually getting married outside of San Francisco, so I will get to see Woodside and Palo Alto!

I will be doing a reading at their wedding.  It is different than a traditional reading, but when I read it the first time my eyes began to water.  It is very sweet and sentimental.  I better practice so I don’t start crying while I read it during the ceremony.  I don’t want to let my emotions get the best of me.

Falling in Love Is Like Owning a Dog
By Taylor Mali

First of all, it’s a big responsibility,
especially in a city like New York.
So think long and hard before deciding on love.
On the other hand, love gives you a sense of security:
when you’re walking down the street late at night
and you have a leash on love
ain’t no one going to mess with you.
Because crooks and muggers think love is unpredictable.
Who knows what love could do in its own defense?
On cold winter nights, love is warm.
It lies between you and lives and breathes
and makes funny noises.
Love wakes you up all hours of the night with its needs.
It needs to be fed so it will grow and stay healthy.
Love doesn’t like being left alone for long.
But come home and love is always happy to see you.
It may break a few things accidentally in its passion for life,
but you can never be mad at love for long.
Is love good all the time? No! No!
Love can be bad. Bad, love, bad! Very bad love.
Love makes messes.
Love leaves you little surprises here and there.
Love needs lots of cleaning up after.
Sometimes you just want to get love fixed.
Sometimes you want to roll up a piece of newspaper
and swat love on the nose,
not so much to cause pain,
just to let love know Don’t you ever do that again!
Sometimes love just wants to go for a nice long walk.
Because love loves exercise.
It runs you around the block and leaves you panting.
It pulls you in several different directions at once,
or winds around and around you
until you’re all wound up and can’t move.
But love makes you meet people wherever you go.
People who have nothing in common but love
stop and talk to each other on the street.
Throw things away and love will bring them back,
again, and again, and again.
But most of all, love needs love, lots of it.
And in return, love loves you and never stops.

Little Things Bring Excitement

So today during lunch I went to Duane Reade and as I was walking through the aisles, I came upon one of my favorite sections…

The Travel Section!!!
I know it may sound odd, but it reminded me that my next trip is now only a month away!!!
